Two students at Cheney High School organized a walkout here, to show their solidarity with the Stoneman Douglas shooting survivors that have been pushing for legislative action in the last week.
Israel suggested a "three-pronged approach" to better secure schools, which includes fortifying the buildings, evaluating how many school resource deputies are needed at each school and sensible gun control.
From Washington DC to Tallahassee, Florida, to Arizona, students are stepping up to have a say in the country's future following another mass shooting on a school campus.
The students plan to start their lobbying efforts early Wednesday when they walk to the state capitol building holding signs reading "Never Again", the motto for their grassroots movement.
They warned politicians they'll vote out lawmakers who don't address school safety.
But the new activists say they're not going away any time soon.
Another school district in Waukesha, Wisconsin, told parents that teachers and students who participated in a March 14 walkout wouldn't be excused.
"Let me repeat: we will require all individuals purchasing firearms to be 21 or older", he said, adding that exceptions will be made for active duty and reserve military and their spouses, National Guard members, and law enforcement.
Still, the Parkland victims' protest has mobilized students all over the country who are fearful of yet another fatal school shootings. She said she's unsure whether the town hall answered her questions.
"It should have been one school shooting and we should have fixed it", said Andrew Pollack, whose daughter was killed in Florida shooting.
During a Wednesday news conference held by the students, their reaction was mixed.
Emma also spoke out about President Trump's response to the shooting and against the NRA.
"We want change. We don't want to just sit here and we don't want to be next", Andy Kowalczyk, Clarence High School senior said. And I also support the right of you and everyone here to be able to go to school and be safe. One read: "We want education without fear of annihilation".
"I hope that they not only promise us change, but follow it up and act on it", White said.
April 20: National High School Student Walk Out: Another national walk-out is being coordinated via Change.Org for Friday, April 20th, the 19th anniversary of the Columbine shooting.
"Keeping guns away from unsafe people and people with mental issues is what we need to do", Scott said, noting that he is an NRA member.
