"You've got to put things into perspective".

The experts made Shiffrin the pre-race favorite for gold.

Vonn was referring to Saturday's super-G event, where she failed to medal after she slid out on the final turn of the course. She will run the slalom portion on Thursday at 1:00 a.m. ET.

Pyeongchang downhill champion Sofia Goggia also believes there is a chance of Vonn carrying on for another four years.

"It feels good", Shiffrin said.

So what you're really saying is that if you're not first, you're last? You saw in it leadership.

Norway won the men's sprint, giving the country its 13th cross-country medal at the games to tie an Olympic record, and added gold in the men's speedskating team pursuit with a win over South Korea in the final. The silver medal went to 22-year-old teammate Mikaela Shiffrin.

Still, Shiffrin added the combined silver to her giant slalom gold from a week earlier, giving her two medals - plus a surprisingly low fourth-place finish in the slalom - in three races. Only Bode Miller (six) and Julie Mancuso (four) have more in United States history. Wendy Holdener of Switzerland earned the bronze.

Hey you, crawl out from under that rock and check this out: The Winter Olympics are going on. She sought to dismiss that, rightly pointing out that skiing and swimming were apples and oranges.

The 24-year-old clocked a combined time of 2min 20.90sec to beat her American rival by 0.97 seconds and claim her first Olympic medal.

In this day and age of the National Basketball Association , players are bound to go to anywhere in a blink of an eye. The Raptors were off Friday, returning next to the practice court Saturday. "That's the way you look at your team".

Maybe, but on this brilliantly sunny day on the slopes at Jeongseon Alpine Centre that seemed OK to Vonn, too. She set out to try to medal - let's be honest, she was seeking gold - in all five events. After strong winds delayed the start of the women's Alpine competitions, she finally made her PyeongChang debut on February 14 in the giant slalom.

Still, two medals is a two-week run most would love to have.

All the same, what Shiffrin learned here is key.

But Albert and Lois Muir adopted her in 1976 and raised her in Trenton, Michigan. "You try to handle it with grace".

Muir gradually focused on teaching hockey players how to be better, more efficient skaters with her "Can't Skate, Can't Play" training school. Then third in DH.

Eventually, Shiffrin raced, and she began with an electric performance as she won her third best event, the giant slalom.

Throughout the last fortnight Vonn has said that these Games are likely to be her last and if that proves to be the case the veteran ends her Olympic career with three medals.

"She has been so inspiring for me with my own struggles", she said.

Vonn in 60 seconds: 'I don't know.

Vonn, 33, has maintained a lighthearted attitude at the 2018 Winter Games. Her leadership skills? The relationship between Mikaela and her mother, Eileen: as is normal with young women in their 20s, how will it evolve? And I really had hoped that he would be alive to see me. "Only slightly bummed I'm not skiing it today cause we have 4 girls who are ready to hammer down and I can't wait to watch!"
