Apple is exploring whether to offer rebates to customers who previously purchased full-price iPhone batteries

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) Takes Minor Hit In Market Sell-off

Of course, that doesn't necessarily preclude Apple from releasing a similar feature in the future, when millions of 2017-vintage iPhones are suffering from depleted batteries. The company did confirm the claim, which was first found by GeekBench co-founder. That being said Apple and even other consumer electronics makers are already offering 0% interest EMI schemes by partnering with both offline and online retail channels. However, when an iPhone experiences an unexpected shutdown, iOS 11.3 will automatically turn on power management once again.

iOS 11.3 is going to be a pretty major update, and one of its most notable tweaks is in response to one of the bigger PR controversies to hit Apple in recent times.

When asked whether those who paid full price to restore full performance should be allowed a rebate Apple's VP for public policy Cynthia C Hogan said: "Yes, we are exploring this and will update you accordingly". You also get an option to Disable the performance management feature.

As per Apple, iOS 11.3 will be able to periodically assess the level of performance and the management needed to avoid shutdowns. If it can, it'll truck along with normal performance and you shouldn't notice any slowdown.

This software does not affect the newest iPhone models introduced in the previous year, including the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X, according to Apple.

An updated support document today also details every aspect of Battery Health features. The iPhone maker had announced its battery health-centric features alongside announcing the iOS 11.3 last month. This will give you a status of battery's maximum capacity and whether or not your device is running at peak performance. Batteries will start at 100% when first activated and will degrade as the battery chemically ages which may result in fewer hours of usage between charges.

As Apple tells it, the company was simply trying to help users when it began throttling CPU performance on older iPhones with degraded batteries. "Such basic performance management is required for safety and expected function, and can not be turned off", Apple told Business Insider in a statement. This is a measure of battery capacity relative to when it was brand new.

Apple Inc (Apple) designs, manufactures and markets mobile communication and media devices, personal computers, and portable digital music players, and a variety of related software, services, peripherals, networking solutions, and third-party digital content and applications.
