Wild whiplash of winter weather to take place Friday

An updated time line for the potentially treacherous ice and snowstorm Friday in Northeast Ohio

Heavy rain will continue on Friday night, with temperatures soaring well into the 50s and even near 60 - close to records in some cases. Freezing rain, coupled with standing water, will result in a flash freeze this afternoon and evening. Freezing rain will then transition to a period of sleet before a complete changeover to snow tonight. The changeover from a wintry mix to all snow should be around 4 p.m., according to weather.com. Scattered snow showers are possible during the day.

Winter storm warnings were posted for the western halves of both states as unseasonably warm weather in recent days gave way to frigid conditions.

Another accumulating snow looks likely in the frigid cold Monday, with temperatures likely below zero again by early next week.

There are going to be several hours with temperatures near freezing, which will likely lead to minor ice accumulation.

A winter storm brought rain and strong winds to Wichita overnight, which changed to sleet and snow with the sunrise.

Nation Medicaid work requirements approved for Kentucky
Plus, the proportion of pediatricians not accepting any Medicaid patients dropped 2 percentage points to less than 15 percent. On Thursday, President Donald Trump's administration said states could impose work requirements for Medicaid benefits.

Friday is a 22News Storm Team Weather Alert Day with the main concern being heavy rain that could cause street and stream flooding. The icy precipitation will then change to snow on Friday afternoon and can fall through the evening.

Also, there is increasing potential for a winter storm Friday night.

SUNDAY: Partly to mostly cloudy skies and snow flurries will be possible, with a frigid high temperature of 24 degrees.

As this system moves over the area, be prepared for hard travel conditions and slick roads, especially into Friday morning! That system will draw much colder and seasonable temperatures into central Indiana. As always, locally higher totals are possible.
