Zuckerberg announces £199 Oculus Go as “sweet spot” standalone VR headset
That level of commitment will be needed given that the first day of the Oculus Connect conference raised as many questions as it answered about the company's VR strategy.
Beyond that, there aren't too many details surrounding this headset as Oculus is set to reveal more about it next year. But, as CEO Mark Zuckerberg said, this device will be the "most accessible VR experience ever" tagged with a $199 price. It's made of a lightweight fabric, comes with integrated spatial audio - so others can hear what you're hearing, if you want them to - and will be fully compatible with all Samsung Gear VR apps. But Santa Cruz offers the freedom of a truly wireless headset, and Oculus' controllers are far more comfortable and less cluttered than Microsoft's.
The announcements will be seen as an effort to keep virtual reality to the forefront of technology investment.
The name Oculus is nearly synonymous now with virtual reality.
They do mention that the Oculus Go will come with built-in speakers, and that you won't need a separate pair of headphones in order to indulge in the audiophile aspects of VR.
Jim Harbaugh names starting QB for Saturday's game at Indiana
They've been doing that since 2007, and that's why Michigan State is 8-3 in games involving the Paul Bunyan Trophy under Dantonio. MI bizarrely put the ball in the hands of O'Korn amid a deluge, and three straight Wolverines possessions ended in interceptions.
The Oculus Go is a gray headset with a power button, a small circular button, and a volume rocker, all at the top. The Go also features lenses that have the same wide field-of-view that's available on the Oculus Rift. The Gear VR headset and controller will set you back £119 in the United Kingdom and still requires a high-end smartphone for use.
The Oculus Go development kits will go live by November while the headsets are slated to hit store shelves by early 2018. The company also slashed the price of the Oculus Rift and touch controllers, which require a high-end personal computer, from $499 to $399 on Wednesday.
Paying $399 for Oculus Rift was nearly nerve-racking for a casual VR user. Games on Santa-Cruz-style headsets will need the interaction and UX expertise from current 3x6dof devs, but they'll also need the technical expertise from current mobile VR devs.
Meanwhile, the release date of the Santa Cruz headset was something that Facebook executives at the show wouldn't commit to.

Stejskal: Who should the U.S. start against Panama?

Steelers back at home, ready for run-first Jaguars
The team is averaging only 3.2 yards per carry, which could be the ideal antidote for the Chargers' problems stopping the run. On Pittsburgh's next possession, the Steelers had second-and-10 from their 46 and used one receiver and three tight ends.
