We interrupt this coaching honeymoon for a startling announcement. Coach Ed Orgeron has avoided taking the Tom Herman tact and blaming anybody before him and that's admirable. At least for now.

It was sweet revenge for the Trojans, who in their last trip to Tiger Stadium in 2008 couldn't hold a 31-3 lead against a fourth-quarter LSU rally.

Troy, which celebrated wildly with traveling fans in largely empty Tiger Stadium as time ran out, became the first team from outside the Southeastern Conference to win in LSU's Death Valley since UAB in 2000. "I thought play for play we matched their physicality - maybe exceeded it".

LSU had won 49 straight nonconference home games.

Much like Syracuse did one week earlier, Troy followed the interception with a long touchdown drive against a tired LSU defense.

The Tigers have started terribly under Orgeron's permanent leadership.

"The challenge of this football team is, are we different?" They're hurting in there.

The men of Troy took it to the mighty LSU Tigers Saturday night in Baton Rouge, beating them 24-21. "It's about everybody looking in the mirror".

AUBURN, Ala. - Quarterback Jarret Stidham threw two touchdowns and the Auburn defense bottled up a potent Mississippi State offense for the lopsided victory.

The Tigers now have to dig deep and get ready for the heart of SEC play. LSU has the resources and pedigree to lure the biggest Group of Five names, and even many sitting Power 5 ones, yet it settled for an in-house option with a shoddy track record in the SEC.

Rohit ton gives India comprehensive series win
Australia lost their way after a strong start, succumbing to India's spin strength through the middle phase of their innings. On both occasions the ball came in a fraction and was far too close to the body to attempt the most productive ODI shot.

Wisconsin 33, Northwestern 24: Jonathan Taylor ran for two touchdowns to help the offense overcome a sluggish start and No. 10 Wisconsin's defense swarmed Northwestern before holding on for the win. I thought about it a lot that night.

Still, there was a chance. Etling was injured near the end of the first half, but managed to return to the game.

Quarterback Danny Etling completed seven of his eleven passes with LSU going into halftime with 97 yards rushing on 15 carries.

But it was too little too late.

"We've just got to get better", Orgeron said. Some of you follow Troy, some of you don't, but we didn't just start playing football tonight.

"He did some good things ... the interception was critical so we put Danny back in".

Somehow, a big, cacophonous sport where Washington State beats No. 5 Southern California on Friday night, and Pullman goes wild and all of that, has come up with two mastodon programs: Clemson and Alabama, Alabama and Clemson.

Troy 17, LSU 0 (Q3, 6:00): The Tigers had a 6-play, 67-yard drive end at the Troy 9. Georgia got the ball with 2:53 left, leading 41-0, with any lingering Vols fans surely either numb, napping, kin to the players, imbued with Herculean devotion or imbued with something else. Legassey's kick hit the crossbar and bounced over.

Brown said the Trojans were determined to shorten the game and run the football at least enough to keep LSU's pass rush honest. "I liked how we prepared, I liked how we practiced", he said.
