Why Trump Is Set On Destroying North Korea's Dictatorship

18 August 2017, 09:41 | Christie Tate

The United States is using a policy of brinkmanship against North Korea in order to deploy more troops and nuclear weapons to South Korea, Japan, and Guam, political commentator and worldwide lawyer Barry Grossman says. Rather, experts say what Kim is searching for can be summed up in one word: survival.

In North Korea, "there was an nearly complete denial by the government of the right to freedom of thought, conscience, and religion, and, in many instances, violations of human rights committed by the government constituted crimes against humanity", notes the State report, which covers about 200 foreign jurisdictions, criticizing American allies and foes alike for their religious freedoms shortcomings. South Korea hopes for a reunified Korea, which is opposite of the intent of the ruling Kim family of North Korea; Kim Jong Un has headed the north since the death five years ago of his father, Kim Jong Il.

Reacting to the latest development, top United States officials have promised tough measures against the country and its war-mongering supreme leader, Kim Jong-Un, which may not preclude a military action.

"He's learned the lesson of Saddam [Hussein] and Muammar [Gaddafi]", Ganyard said.

Dunford's statement came as South Korean President Moon Jae-in promised his citizens Thursday there "will be no war on the Korean peninsula ever again".

"I will tell you this", he continued, "if North Korea does anything in terms of even thinking about. things will happen to them like they never thought possible". This increases the likelihood that he will follow through with his preparation to launch the Hwasong-12 to Guam, where the U.S. Andersen Air Force Base is located.

He also declared, amid fears in South Korea that threats from President Donald Trump to unleash "fire and fury" on Pyongyang could lead to real fighting, that there would be no second war on the Korean Peninsula.

The United States and South Korea remain technically at war with North Korea after the 1950-53 Korean conflict ended with a truce, not a peace treaty.

Pyongyang conducted what it said were two successful intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) tests in July, further raising tensions after five nuclear tests.

Marine Corps Gen. Joseph Dunford told reporters Thursday that he's advised the USA leadership not to dial back on the exercises with South Korea.

For the past decade under conservative South Korean governments, talks between Seoul and Pyongyang had nearly been suspended over Pyongyang's nuclear tests and ballistic missile developments.

U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said on Wednesday it was time to "dial down rhetoric and dial up diplomacy" on North Korea and that he had told Russia, Japan, the United States, China and North and South Korea that he was available to help broker talks. "We should add pressure and sanctions to a maximum level so that North Korea abandons its development of nuclear weapons and missiles". Last I checked, trending topics on South Korean social media included a hip-hop artist, the latest lottery prizes, a nude bed and breakfast and a corruption scandal. On Monday, Mattis responded to North Korea's threats to target Guam: "If they do that, then it's game on".

But if Japan cooperates with countries surrounding North Korea and puts more pressure on the nation, "we could still lower the probability of something like a missile or a destructive situation from developing", Aoki said.

Guam is home to US military bases, including an estimated 6,000 troops, and it hosts the Air Force's B-1B strategic bombers, a Navy submarine base and the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense missile interceptors. South Korea is fed up, and has said that next time it will hit back twice as hard.

"The (just-war) criterion we're thinking through here is last resort", Capizzi said. I&W signs include the Pentagon canceling leaves for soldiers, sailors, marines, and airmen in the region; readying the U.S. Military's global transportation and logistics network; and calling up reservists, whom the active duty military must rely upon to support any major military action.

Next week's start of annual U.S. "Bellicose rantings by North Korea, or anyone else, don't constitute just cause for the use of force".
