Trump fires White House communications director Scaramucci

On THE TONIGHT SHOW, Jimmy Fallon invited GOP Fanboy (and comedian) John Early to share some encouraging words for Scaramucci. "The Mooch's" tenure may have been brief, "but his cologne will linger forever", Fallon joked.

Scaramucci, 53, resigned Monday after just 10 days on the job.

There were conflicting reports over whether Scaramucci jumped or was pushed. Scaramucci's wife denied those reports through her lawyer.

TRUMP: You look at the border.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., said on CBS' "Face the Nation" that she hopes Kelly can "be effective", and "begin some very serious negotiation with the North and stop this program". "Enjoy that time off, babe".

In addition, Scaramucci seemed to be, at least for the moment, overshadowing him - a fact that Breitbart News, which Bannon used to run, pointed out in a headline describing Trump as second fiddle to his communications director.

ANTHONY SCARAMUCCI: I love the president.

The White House confirmed that reporting structure on Monday.

He publicly called then colleague and chief of staff Priebus a "paranoid schizophrenic" and denounced chief White House strategist Steve Bannon in lurid sexual terms. His demeaning treatment of Priebus and Attorney General Jeff Sessions signals that there are no boundaries in Trumpland, leading to the unprofessional actions of now-former Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci.

"How do you top Scaramucci?".

"Would it be an air horn with chest hair?"

He's the wrong person for the wrong job for the wrong president. Trump, Trump, Trump. He's had more lives than nine cats.

Sean Spicer resigned as press secretary to protest the appointment of Scaramucci, while Reince Priebus, Kelly's predecessor, left the White House after Scaramucci, the former Wall Street financier, accused him of leaking damaging information to reporters.

Trump names John Kelly chief of staff, replacing Reince Priebus
The next shortest serving chief of staff, Kenneth Duberstein, worked 203 days for President Ronald Reagan from 1988 to 1989. I think Kelly's a brilliant pick. "General Kelly has been a star, done an incredible job thus far, respected by everybody.

But there was another statement from Trump that Kimmel didn't think aged as well.

"Well, woof to them", Kimmel quipped.

To Siegfried, the only way to plug the leaks is to have "a fully functioning and competent White House that's achieving results" without deep interpersonal conflicts.

As the Scaramucci news spread, Kelly was in the East Room smiling and taking pictures with guests who were gathering for a Medal of Honor presentation.

"Anthony Scaramucci: Late July 2017 - Slightly Later July 2017", the montage concluded. A job that Scaramucci hadn't even officially been sworn in to yet.

And this time when Trump looks for a communications chief, he should find someone with actual communications skills and experience dealing with the media - like knowing how to say "off the record" before you rant to a reporter. He said he was encouraged by the firing of Scaramucci, whose departure he likened to "the need to amputate a bad limb hanging on by a thread". Scaramucci was "grandstanding", one source close to the White House said, a grave misdeed that Trump punished by banishing him to "the cheap seats in centerfield". "Because just this afternoon I was shocked by this breaking 'nooch'".

Kelly resisted the president's entreaties to take over for Priebus during the past several weeks. "No WH chaos!" Trump insisted in a Monday morning tweet.

"Evidently "no chaos" wasn't bragging, it was complaining", Colbert said.

SCARAMUCCI: When I put out a tweet and I put Reince's name in a tweet, they're all making the assumption that it's him because journalists know who the leakers are.

"He just got here!" With respect to the last, he might start by asking why the White House has not even nominated an ambassador to South Korea or filled any of the senior regional posts for Asia at the State or Defense Department.

He says he could if he wanted - "with the exception of the late great Abraham Lincoln, I can be more presidential than any President that's ever held this office!" - but chooses not to because he believes the country needs an unconventional governing style. And now I've gone and thrown it all away.

"I think it's an amazingly good thing the president has turned to the general", said Utah Republican Sen.
