Muslim rioters, Israeli police clash after government lifts security measures

Benjamin Netanyahu Palestinian Jerusalem holy site Israelis Execution of Palestinian

After 14 days of restriction, Israel reopened all gates to Al-Aqsa Mosque on Friday afternoon allowing free access to Palestinians of all ages to enter and preform prayer in the Muslim holy compound.

Earlier on Thursday, Israeli forces removed all security measures that had been set up by occupation forces at Al-Aqsa Mosque in East Jerusalem.

It is known as the Noble Sanctuary to Muslims and to Jews as the Temple Mount.

"Women of all ages permitted", Efe news agency cited police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld as saying.

Palestinian worshippers have strongly condemned Israel's new restrictive measures at al-Aqsa Mosque, engaging in bitter clashes with Israeli military forces.

The prayers ended without any major clashes in the Old City, with small disturbances taking place in a nearby neighbourhood between younger Palestinians, banned from entering the mosque, and police.

Omar Kiswani, Director of Al-Aqsa Mosque, said a meeting of the Supreme Islamic Committee in Jerusalem would be held later Thursday.

Trump to talk on gang violence
In the years since, it has continued to grow and spread to the USA , where it is active among communities of Central Americans. On Thursday, two of the gang's reputed members were arrested in Hempstead for a killing in May in Flushing, Queens.

Israel has been warned it risks sparking a religious war in its attempts to control highly sensitive religious sites in Jerusalem.

It comes after Israel installed metal detectors and CCTV cameras outside the mosque, which is one of the most sacred Islamic sites but also stands on the holy site that Jews call Temple Mount.

Television footage showed some brief confrontations involving a group of Palestinians, a number of them throwing bottles, and police dispersing them with stun grenades.

The clashes between Israeli and Muslim worshippers are still underway despite the government removing the security apparatus from the holy site.

"If this does not happen because of legal interpretation, I will work to legislate the required laws in order to remove Al-Jazeera from Israel", Netanyahu added. The conflicts occurred in the wake of a shooting attack on July 14 that left three Palestinians and two Israelis killed.

On Friday, the Israeli army said it killed a Palestinian man who allegedly tried to stage a stabbing attack in the Occupied West bank.

"The death penalty for terrorists -- it's time to implement it in severe cases", he said while speaking with family members of the victims, a video of which was posted on Netanyahu's Twitter account.
