Derrick Rose, Cavaliers discussing one-year deal

He would be an immediate upgrade over Jose Calderon and would be the backup point guard behind Kyrie Irving. During the 2012 playoffs, Rose tore his ACL, beginning a string of subsequent knee injuries that would limit him for years to come.

The Chicago Bulls are clearly in a rebuild. Zach LaVine and Antonio Blakeney are other young players who can play the point in stretches. As a team with the potential to reach the NBA Finals, Rose would likely want to play with the Cavaliers if he wanted to win.

It was a odd year for Rose.

Rose hasn't been a savior since his All-Star days with the Chicago Bulls, and he wouldn't be one with the Cavaliers either.

MNT Respects 2017 Gold Cup Quarterfinal Opponent El Salvador
El Salvador did push the U.S. backline throughout the second stanza, but lacked the clinical final touch to get on the scoreboard. If they beat El Salvador as expected, they could have a big test in front of them if Costa Rica beats Group B runner-up Panama.

More NBA: Udonis Haslem has signed a one-year, $2.3 million deal to remain with the Miami Heat for what will be his 15th season.

Rose's departure felt like a weight being lifted after years of his various injury cycles and freakish and confusing statements nearly every time a microphone was in front of him. Rose averaged 18.0 points and 4.4 assists. A Kyrie-Rose backcourt is also intriguing for super small ball lineups, which I guess can work against certain matchups. He is arguably the franchise's best player since the Michael Jordan era and has an important place in the history of the team. The team has dealt wing Jimmy Butler, and appears to be attempting a rebuild, which would make signing Rose seem counterintuitive but the franchise does need a point guard. "As far as you see all the money they're passing out in this league - just telling the truth - and knowing my day will be coming up soon".

Cleveland have to improve the roster as much as possible and adding Rose would accomplish that, even if it's an incremental improvement.
